Exhibition. Opened February 11, 1955 and closed March 3, 1955. Located in the Corner Gallery at the American Museum of Natural History. "Carl Bodmer Paints the Indian Frontier" featured the work of German naturalist and painter of the American Indian, Carl Bodmer.

Summary

"Carl Bodmer Paints the Indian Frontier" featured the work of German naturalist and painter of the American Indian, Carl Bodmer. Prince Maximilian zu Wied visited the United States in 1932 to study the upper Missouri river, and he brought with him Carl Bodmer to make a comprehensive pictorial report on the landscape, people, and fauna of the region. The almost 50 watercolors and drawings were circulated by the Smithsonian Institution under the sponsorship of the German Government and were on view in the Corner Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from February 11 through March 3, 1955.
