Summary
"Albert Schweitzer: Europe and Africa" featured photographs by Erica Anderson and Jerome Hill recording the many activities of the philosopher and humanitarian, Albert Schweitzer. The photographers followed Dr. Schweitzer from his European home to his hospital in French Equatorial Africa. The almost 50 photographs included portraits of the doctor himself as well as photographs of his house, his patients, co-workers, and the hospital. A special illustrated lecture concerning the doctor's work was given by his assistant Mlle. Emma Huassknecht. The exhibition was sponsored by the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship and was circulated by the American Federation of Arts. The photographs were on view in the Corner Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from January 6 through January 24, 1954.
