Exhibition. Opened December 12, 1953 and closed January 3, 1954. Located in the Corner Gallery at the American Museum of Natural History. "North American Indian Costumes 1564-1860" highlighted the influence of European dress on the history of American Indian costumes and featured reproductions of paintings by the Indian artist, Oscar Howe.

Summary

"North American Indian Costumes 1564-1860" highlighted the influence of European dress on the history of American Indian costumes and featured reproductions of paintings by the Indian artist, Oscar Howe. The 25 reproductions traced the development of American Indian costumes from the time of the earliest settlers through the middle of the nineteenth century. Also on view was a reproduction of a painting of Pocahantas. The exhibition was on view in the Corner Gallery of The American Museum of Natural History from December 12, 1953 through January 3, 1954.
