Summary
"Raw Materials of the Atomic Bomb" showed how strategic minerals were essential to the war effort. Specimens of pitchblende, carnotite and beryl, sources of radium uranium and beryllium were on display. Three maps showed the geographical distribution of these minerals throughout the world. The explosion of the uranium atom was diagrammatically represented. The exhibit was on view in the 77th St. Foyer and the Hall of Minerals and Gems at the American Museum of Natural History starting August 10, 1945.
