Summary

"Live Snakes and Peepers" featured live reptiles and amphibians and was under the supervision of Charles M. Bogert, Assistant Curator of Herpetology at the Museum. Among the reptiles on view was the "glass snake", a limbless lizard which is able to drop and regrow its tail when seized by an enemy. The harmless hognosed snake was also represented in order to acquaint visitors with this snake so that they cease the needless killing of them. More than seventy "spring-peepers" were also on view, a gift of Cornelius L. Cleary. The exhibition was on display in the Hall of Reptiles at the American Museum of Natural History starting May 21, 1941

Individuals and institutions involved in the creation of the exhibition: Charles M. Bogert, AMNH Assistant Curator of Herpetology
