Exhibition. Opened in September 17, 2005 and closed March 2006. Located on Floor 2 in the Akeley Gallery at the American Museum of Natural History. "Voices from South of the Clouds" was an exhibition of photographs taken by the indigenous people of China's Yunnan Province.

Summary

"Voices from South of the Clouds" was an exhibition of photographs taken by the indigenous people of China's Yunnan Province. The Nature Conservancy's Photovoice project put cameras in the hands of the villagers themselves who used photography to chronicle their culture, religion, and daily life, as well as their interaction with the local environment, and whose voices were heard through statements about their work. The exhibition was made possible by a grant from Eastman Kodak Company. the presentation at the American Museum of Natural History was made possible by the Arthur Ross Foundation. The photographs were on view in the Akeley Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from September 17, 2005 through January 2, 2007.
