Exhibition. Opened in December 6, 1991 and closed March 1, 1992. Located in Section 1A, Floor 1 in Gallery 77 at the American Museum of Natural History. "Birds in Art" was an exhibition of avian art.

Summary

"Birds in Art" was an exhibition of avian art. On view were 60 contemporary paintings, drawings and sculptures of birds and their habitats. The works were created between 1989 and 1991 by artists from Canada, France, Israel, The Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden and the United States. Artists included Jay, J. Johnson, Lars Jonsson, Nancy Blauers, Gracia Bennish, Richard Sloan, Lawrence B. McQueen and Charley Harper. The exhibit also featured the 1991-1992 Federal Duck Stamp contest-winning painting by Nancy Howe. Organized by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Mausau, Wisconsin, the exhibit was on view in Gallery 77 of the American Museum of Natural History from December 6, 1991 through March 1, 1992. Following its presentation at the Museum, the exhibition traveled to other U.S. cities.
