1985 June 18 - 1985 August
Summary
"Collector's Choice: Seashells of Nathan L. Halpern" was an exhibition presenting a total of 236 shells, including some of the world's most outstanding cowries. Two gem-quality cowries, a Great Spotted and a Langford's, were highlighted. They were among 57 cowrie shells selected for this exhibit from the thousands in the Museum's collection that were donated by Mr. Halpern, a supporter of the Museum and an avid New York City shell collector. Mr. Halpern's donations and financial support strengthened the mollusk research program of the Museum's Department of Invertebrates. The shells were on view at the entrance to the Hall of Mollusks and Mankind on the first floor of the American Museum of Natural History from June 18 through August,1985.
Individuals and institutions involved in the creation of the exhibition: Nathan Halpern; AMNH Department of Invertebrates.
