Summary
Titian Ramsay Peale: 1799-1885, held in commemoration of the centennial of Peale's death, featured Peale's original drawings, journals, oil paintings, sketches, unpublished manuscripts, and photographs. Many of the materials in the exhibition were related to his work on two expeditions, to the Western United States in 1819 and to the South Seas in 1838. All the materials were drawn from the Museum's Rare Book Room and included Peale's illustrations of the blacktailed or mule deer and the Rocky Mountain Squirrel (1).
A subsequent Museum Library exhibition featuring Titian Ramsay Peale, Purposeful Traveler: Titian Ramsay Peale, was held in 1996 (2).
