1984 February 17 - 1984 July 15
Summary
"Bicycles and Dragons" was a photographic exhibition highlighting the contrasts between China's past and present. On view were approximately 40 photographs taken in the early 1980's by Brenda Holland, Adams Taylor and Donald L. Werner, all on the staff of the Museum of the American Indian (MAI). Their photographs of daily life were juxtaposed with archival photos taken by researchers from the Museum on early expeditions to China. The exhibition was shown in conjunction with the opening of "Silk Roads/China Ships," a special exhibition exploring 2,000 years of trade between East and West. The photographs were on view in the Akeley Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from February 17, 1984 through July 15, 1984.
