Exhibition. Opened in April 29, 1978 and closed July 16, 1978. Located in Section 3, Floor 3 in Gallery 3 Annex at the American Museum of Natural History. "Rails of the World: Paintings by J. Fenwick Lansdowne" was an exibition of watercolors of threatened marsh birds were painted to illustrate the book, "Rails of the World," by S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.

Summary

"Rails of the World: Paintings by J. Fenwick Lansdowne" was an exibition of watercolors of threatened marsh birds were painted to illustrate the book, "Rails of the World," by S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Lansdowne was recognized as one of the finest painters of birds of his time. The paintings were on tour of the United Sates courtesy of Lansdowne's agent, M. F. Feheley, in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution. They were on view in the Gallery 3 Annex of the American Museum of Natural History from April 29 through July 16, 1978.
