Summary
"Treasures of Cyprus" was an exhibition of 200 priceless Cypriot art objects. Spanning 8000 years in the artistic, decorative and archeological history of Cyprus, the exhibit included items from the Neolithic times up through the middle of the 19th century. On view was a variety of pottery, figurines, statues, vessels and jewelry. In addition to the regular features of the exhibition, the Museum installed an informative audio system developed by the By-Word Corporation. The exhibit was assembled under the auspices of the Cypriot government and was circulated in the U.S. by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. The objects were on view in Gallery 77 of the American Museum of Natural History from February 16 through April 3, 1977.
