Summary
"The Animals Christmas Dinner" was a holiday exhibit featuring more than thirty life-like mounted specimens of small birds and mammals depicted as if seeking food on a wintery Christmas day. The purpose of the exhibit, according to Katharine Beneker, supervisor of special exhibitions, was to show the ways in which woodland animals overcome the hardships of winter. The exhibit was on display in the 77th Street Foyer of the American Museum of Natural History from December 11, 1948 through January 3, 1949.
