- Permanent exhibition. Opened February 19, 2000. Located on Floor 0, Section 18. The Rose Center for Earth and Space's Dorothy
and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe at the American Museum of Natural History presents the discoveries of modern astrophysics.
Support for the hall was provided by Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman. Support for the hall's AstroBulletin, which offers regularly
updated information on news in astrophysics comes from Toyota Motor North America (1; 2).
Located beneath the Hayden Sphere, the 7,000 square-foot Hall of the Universe examines how the universe evolved into galaxies,
stars, and planets. The hall is divided into four zones: the Universe Zone, the Galaxies Zone, the Stars Zone, and the Planets
Zone. The hall includes exhibits islands, astronomical images, and rotating video displays. The hall features the Willamette
Meteorite, a closed-glass Ecosphere, moon rocks collected by the Apollo lunar missions, a black hole exhibit, and the Black
Hole Theater. The hall frequently serves as a venue for special events (3, 2001, p. 14; 1; 4, 2000, p. 14; 5, 2017).
